Thanks so much for tuning in to the first official episode of The Wine Pro and The Wino, hosted by Brielle Buckler and Michelle Matos. What’s the deal with wine tasting? Well, on this week’s episode, Wine Tasting 101, we will go through the basics of tasting wine– serving as a refresher for wine pros and a valuable class for winos. 02 — Weddings & Wine
Central Question: What wine should I serve at my wedding?
In this week’s episode, we go back to before both Brielle and Michelle got married to their now-husbands (yes, this was recorded last year!) Joined by special guest, and Brielle’s childhood best friend, Molly, who was also in the heat of wedding planning at the time, each discusses their plan for serving wine and other alcohol at their celebrations. We’ll answer questions like, “What kind of wine should I serve at my wedding?” “How much should I serve?” And more! The three also chat about their “drinking plans” when attending weddings and cardinal rules like, “liquor before beer, you’re in the clear… wine, you’re fine,” and more!
03 - Wine Storage & Serving
Central Question: How should I store my wine?
How do you store your wine? This week, we’re talking all things wine storage and serving! This episode idea was sparked after Michelle received a wine fridge as a wedding gift and didn’t know where to start. Tune in as the Wine Pro and the Wino discuss how to, and how NOT to store wine, the best way to preserve those good bottles, and hear some wine storage horror stories (R.I.P. Dom Perignon!)
04 - Our Favorite Wines
Central Question: What’s your favorite wine?
This week, we’re chatting about each of our all-time favorite wines. While Michelle’s preference may be somewhat predictable, you may never have even heard of Brielle’s beloved varietal. For all you basic winos out there like Michelle, Brielle offers some comparable suggestions to pick up next time you’re at the wine shop. What’s YOUR favorite wine? 06 - Tannin
Central Question: What is tannin?
Want to learn how to sound fancy at a restaurant (or at least sound like you know what you’re talking about?) Then this episode is for you! This week, Brielle and Michelle discuss tannin and what it means when tasting wine. While learning, the two drink a Nebbiolo from Piedmont, Italy, so if you want the full experience, grab a glass and drink along!
07 - Acid
Central Question: Why does acidity matter in wine?
Going off of last week’s episode, “all about tannin,” this week we chat all about acid! Brielle and Michelle enjoy a “hallmark white wine,” a white blend from the Rivero Region in Spain. This episode is a great refresher for all you wine pros and an easy to digest (and drink) lesson for the winos. Sip along with us as we explore this acidic wine!

Central Question: What’s the difference between wine in cans, bottles, and boxes?
Does wine taste different between bottles, cans and boxes? In this week’s episode, we prove that wine is good, no matter the medium you drink it in! From bottles to cans to boxes of wine, we drink ‘em all! As many of you know, Brielle is a canned-wine lover and has learned that not only is canned wine delicious, but also eco-friendly! We chat about our side-by-side-by-side tasting of Bridge Lane’s White Merlot in a bottle, a can and a box and discuss the differences (or lack thereof) of the three. 09 - Wine Pairings
Central Question: How do wine pairings work?
How do wine pairings work? Well, this week’s episode gets really interesting (and quite entertaining!) as we discuss wine pairings and experiments. Brielle guides Michelle through a diverse and random pairing to learn how different flavors and textures interact with wine. Want to sip along? Michelle was drinking a Paso Robles Cabernet Sauvignon and pairings included: crackers, tortilla chips, chocolate chips, grapes, sour candies, cheddar cheese, laughing cow cheese and tabasco sauce.
10 - Aging Wine
Central Question: Does all wine get better with age?
Does ALL wine get better with age? This week we talk about what wines age well and which wines you should probably drink sooner rather than later. Brielle discusses the wine-making process and what goes into wines that age well and ones that don’t. For all you winos out there, this is a good episode to figure out which wines should stay on your shelves and which should be opened up for dinner tonight!
